Today’s World

Today’s World …

What To  Do in Today’s World?

For many, today’s world is filled with fears and hope. Fear of today and tomorrow and tomorrow.  Hope for a different today and tomorrow and tomorrow.  Fear in and of itself is a common human emotion.  What can be uncommon are the things, experiences, threats, promises, beliefs, hopes,  and behaviors that contribute to the creation of fear.

Fear is human.

What do we do with our fears? That is the thing.

Will your fear stop you? Will your fear allow you to sink into a quicksand or worry, perhaps feelings of powerlessness?

What we do in spite of our fears … that is what defines us.

What we choose to “do” – if we choose to “do” anything is a vast pool of options.

Do we speak? Question? Write? Boycott? Paint? Create a song? Fashion a piece of Jewelry? Sew a new form of clothing?

Do we march? Protest? Publish? Blog? Write a poem? Read a new idea?

Do we talk to a neighbor? Attend a meeting? Question? Start buying? Stop buying?

What we can not do – never d0 – is create harm. Manufacture trauma.

Step on or attempt to impinge on another’s right to be different.

There are just as many differences between us as there are similarities. That is the truth of our creation. To deny it is not useful.

To use it as a weapon is not humane.

Will your fears define you?  Or your thoughtful, compassionate, creative actions?
