About Dr. Brewer

Dr. Pamela Brewer received the Distinguished Alumna Award from New York University Silver School of Social Work (2016) for her pioneering efforts in the creation and distribution of mental health/relationship awareness programming.

Pamela Brewer earned her MSW in Clinical Social Work from New York University, New York where she graduated with honors as the first African-American and first social work student in the history of the University to be selected to deliver the Student Address at the graduation ceremonies with 10,000+ in attendance

Brewer went on to receive her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Brewer is a Board Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years of postgraduate clinical experience. Brewer is licensed in Alabama, Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia and Texas.

Her teaching/field instructor experiences include Brooklyn College Women's Center - Brooklyn, New York; University of Maryland School of Social Work /Law Clinic - Baltimore, Maryland and George Mason University School of Social work - Fairfax, Virginia.

She has served on the Montgomery County, Maryland Victims Services Advisory Committee/Legislative Subcommittee and Davis Memorial Goodwill Industries Board of Directors.

Dr. Brewer also served as Executive Director of the Life Experiences Activities Program Inc. (LEAP) in Silver Spring - a vocational rehabilitation agency for adults with disabilities seeking competitive employment.

Brewer has published many articles and made appearances on local radio programs and local and national television programs discussing mental health issues including marital health, the existence and healing from domestic violence, elder abuse, trauma, depression , healthy relationships, self-esteem and more.

Her professional memberships include The National Association of Social Workers, The American Psychological Association, and SAG-AFTRA.
