Loss and Recovery

By Pamela Brewer

We all experience loss every day, in both large and small ways.

Think about how you have historically experienced loss.  What have you done? Thought? Felt? Have your loss-response practices served you well? Do you need to revise?  Do you need to reach out to others for support?

Do not try to suppress your feelings. Do recognize that there can be a huge difference between how you feel and how you choose to express your feelings.

Please remember:
Loss is a natural part of life.
We are living in times that are complex and worrisome for some –
…complex and hopeful for others.
Humans require healthy affiliation to thrive.
Sometimes, deciding with whom to affiliate can feel complex and potentially worrisome.
Affiliation takes energy and courage.
Anger, fear, or both are predictable human responses to loss.

Be sure to include peaceful relaxation strategies as you are thinking about your loss responses.
